THIS PROGRAM IS FILLED. Call 319-362-0664 to put your name on an interest list for future snowshoe programs. A snowshoe hike is great winter exercise with the added bonus of fresh air, beautiful scenery and signs of wildlife to enjoy. Bring your own snowshoes or call ahead to reserve a pair of ours. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa after your adventure. Recommended for adults and children aged 7 and older. Fee: M Adult: $4; NM Adult: $5; Child: $2 Advance registration required. Time: 9:30 am

Owls and eagles share special features as birds of prey. Come learn about these great hunters and find out how many children we can fit into an eagle's nest. Use your "eagle eyes" to try to spot some eagles soaring near ICNC. For preschoolers and their parents. Cost: $5/M child; $6/NM child; adults admitted free. Limited to 14 children. This Green & Simple discussion group focuses on the concept of "sustainability" - a complex and contested concept. Explore the meaning and vision of sustainability from individual, societal and global perspectives in seven discussion sessions. Click here for a complete description of discussion topics and online registration link. Fee is $50 per individual which includes a $25 required course book. Bear Cub Achievements #6 Become active in taking care of the Earth. Learn where energy and natural resources come from and how to use them more responsibly. Play a game to discover how much water a leaky faucet wastes. Discover ways the Nature Center is sustainable. Fee is $8 per scout. Journey Workshop for Juniors Explore energy at the Nature Center and determine your ecological footprint. Energy is an important part of everything from the lights in your room to the food you eat. Learn about using solar energy to create electricity. Build a sun oven and cook. Discover all the things the Nature Center has done to turn an old barn into an efficient environmental center. Fee is $8 per scout. NEW! Register for this workshop through the Girl Scout office by calling 319-363-8335 or register online at www.girlscoutstoday.org. Registration and payment must be completed no later than Thursday of the week prior to the scheduled workshop (at least 8 days before the workshop).

* Make Tracks with RibbitMake Tracks with Ribbit

Time: 12:00 pm

What's Hoppin' In? Snow tells stories about wild things that live at the Nature Center. Grandma and Grandpa Storyteller will help you do some "tracking" and discover just what Ribbit's friends have been up to. Bring an indoor picnic to enjoy at noon or join us at 12:20 for storytime but be sure to call and register in advance! Program is geared for children aged 3-7 years with an adult. * Discover Winter WildflowersDiscover Winter Wildflowers

Time: 2:00 pm

Take the Naturalist's cure for cabin fever and reconnect to the outdoors on a casual walk to identify the seed heads and stalks of last summer's blooms. These remnants of warmer days are amazingly beautiful and often quite fragrant. Dress for the outdoors. Fee: M: $4; NM: $5; Youth: $1. Advance registration important. Naturalist David Brenzel will share the amazing story and mystery of the Oskaloosa mammoths. For kids! Discover who's been makin' tracks in the snow around the Nature Center. Bring a new (or better yet) be green and give new life to an old t-shirt as you repurpose it into a Track Shirt using replica rubber paws and fabric paint.
