Celebrating 40 Years!

On January 18, 2013, the Nature Center officially began its 40th year! On our incorporation day, we were little more than a concept with no land, no building and no staff. It was just over a year before the first program could be held (on Ground Hog Day, 1974) so our anniversary “year” will extend through Ground Hot Day, 2014.

We have adopted the theme of “Reconnect – Rediscover – Reinvest” for our 40th celebration and are roughly dividing our year into thirds. We will be offering numerous ways to participate in our celebration by reconnecting with nature, rediscovering the Nature Center, and reinvesting in our future.

40 for 40 Passport

One way to participate is to download your 40 for 40 Passport! Each season, we’ll give you a dozen or more suggestions of things to do at the Nature Center (for free!) You pick 10 activities and when you complete them, bring your “passport” to the front desk in the barn and we’ll stamp your passport for a fun prize! Could be honey sticks, could be a t-shirt, could be almost anything! At the end of our anniversary year, if you’ve completed 40 activities for our 40th anniversary, your name will be entered into a drawing for a very special grand prize.

Click here to download your Winter Passport.  These activities don’t have to be done in winter, but we encourage you to come out to see how our landscape changes from season to season.  There is no “deadline” for completing your passport activities but be sure to get them all completed by the end of the year so you can be in our grand prize drawing!

Stay tuned for more fun anniversary happenings!
